Churches in those times traditionally began as grass-roots initiatives by Catholics who desired a place to worship in their neighborhood. Not so with Immaculata. It was special from the beginning. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand,  and it gives light to all in the house. Archbishop Purcell first asked the faithful to climb the steps in 1859, praying for the successful construction of this Church. The tradition continues every year on Good Friday! We are grateful for your support of our beloved historic Church, the " Beacon Star " established in honor of the Immaculate Conception, to keep watch over Cincinnati. Parishioners, too!
